As part of the New Freedom Initiative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded the Maine Department of Human Services, the Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services, and the Governor's office grants to improve services for people with disabilities. Called Quality Choices for Maine, grant activities will be performed in collaboration with Maine’s Work Group for Community-Based Living. The Work Group includes a broad array of consumer representatives and state representatives from five departments (Transportation, Labor, Education, Human Services, and Behavioral and Developmental Services). The projects on this website were identified as high priorities by the Work Group in the Olmstead planning process.
