Workforce
Maine Personal Assistance Services Association (Maine PASA)
The CMS Real Choices I System Change Grant supported objectives to improve
the availability and quality of the direct care and support workers who
assist people with disabilities and elders to live in home and community
settings. The proposed project would provide support, continuing education,
advocacy and other benefits for the workers. During the 3-year grant
period, 2001-2003, and with a one year no-cost extension, the Maine Personal
Assistance Services Association (Maine PASA) was founded, developed and
supported to become a non-profit, 501c(3) organization. The mission of
Maine PASA is to build recognition and opportunity for the direct care,
direct support and personal assistance workforce through education, professional
development, and public awareness.
